Hurricane Films producers Roy Boulter and Sol Papadopoulos are happy to announce that Terence Davies’ new film A Quiet Passion will have its international premiere at Berlin Film Festival in a Special Gala Screening on 14th February 2016.
A Quiet Passion is a biopic of the life of the celebrated American poet Emily Dickinson, starring Cynthia Nixon as the reclusive Emily, with Jennifer Ehle and Keith Carradine taking on the roles of Emily’s sister and father respectively.
This will be Terence Davies’ third collaboration with Liverpool-based Hurricane Films. In 2008, they worked together on Of Time and The City, a visual tribute to the city of Liverpool which premiered out-of-competition at Cannes Film Festival that same year. Sunset Song, their second collaboration, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015 to critical acclaim.
Sol Papadopoulos said “We’re so pleased to be premiering another Terence Davies film in Berlin, following on from the great success of our previous film ‘Sunset Song’ in Toronto last year. We couldn’t be prouder of ‘A Quiet Passion’ – we think Terence has excelled himself with this beautiful and moving film.”
Having completed a trilogy of Terence Davies films, Hurricane Films have several other projects in development, including Thai boxing thriller A Prayer Before Dawn, based on Billy Moore’s autobiography about his time in Thai Prison, which is directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire. Starring Joe Cole, filming will begin later this year.
